Enhancing the Showering Experience

Client Locations – Shere, Abinger Hammer, Reigate and Betchworth

Client Brief:
Existing baths removed from properties to maximise the working space and to create a spacious feel. Wet room style shower areas to be created. To enhance the showering experience, monsoon booster pumps will be added to insufficient water systems, to provide a high pressure rain shower environment.

Dabney Solution:
Sympathetic, careful removal of existing tiling would be required so existing bath removal can be achieved. Supplies isolated and capped. All unwanted tiling removed, areas prepared and cleaned. To provide the correct pressures for new rain shower type heads and or insufficient water systems, Stuart Turner monsoon shower pumps will be installed. In each case, two new independent 22mm feeds will be ran from the cold water storage tank and via a Surrey flange connected to the hot water tank to feed the necessary Stuart Turner positive or negative head monsoon shower pumps, depending on its location above or at the foot of the hot water cylinder.

Two new 22mm reducing to 15mm supplies will be ran from the new monsoon pumps and to the new shower valve location. A new fused spur outlet added to provide power to the pump via a 5amp fuse. New Aqualisa Midas 110 column thermostatic shower valves installed, flushed through and full tested for a minimum of 24-hours. Walls prepared and plastered where necessary to provide a sound flat surface ready for tiling. Low profile solid stone resin shower trays to be fitted directly to the floor in most instances to create a smooth walk-in wet room style.

In some instances and depending on the existing floor coverings a solid timber plinth would be required with minimal step to achieve the correct waste gradient. All shower trays to be firmly fitted with a rapid high grab tile adhesive to aid the levelling process. High flow vortex shower traps used to clear waste waters. A double seal method to be applied to adhere the shower tray to the wall and form a perfect water tight seal.

Tiling to commence and completed to the highest of standards to suit existing tile pattens. Most tile cuts will be done by hand using an angle grinder with a diamond encrusted fine disc. Tiles grouted. Fixed glass shower panels 8 to 10mm thick installed and firmly fixed with a wall profile and support arms. All wet areas sealed in Dow Corning 785 mould resistant sealant.

End result:
A transformation of a dis-functional tired looking space into a new bright open showering experience with clean lines. Both areas enhance the spaces and provide a modern appearance that will have longevity knowing that the correct process, the correct procedures and materials have been used. A full operational explanation and necessary paperwork and warranties handed to clients.
